River Refuge Projects

The River Refuge is the benevolence arm of our church.  We choose to be Love in Action!  We have been consistent in the community as a connect point for showing love and care.  The River Refuge is committed to evangelism and discipleship. For over eight years, we have been a consistent presence in the community, sharing the love of Christ and connecting with people in meaningful ways.

The River Refuge is centered around community! Outreach is a core part of what we do. Below you will see a list of our Community Projects!

Homeless Care Kits

The River Refuge provides Homeless Care Kits several times during the year. Through the Homeless Care Kits we are tangibly demonstrating Matthew 25 Ministry to people in need by providing items to help them survive the difficult winter months. Each kit includes a blanket, warm gloves, a scarf, socks, toothbrush, soap, and spiritual materials. These kits often serve as the first step of a spiritual journey for a desperate person. We care about the well-being of our neighbors and are willing to take action to help them.

Back to School Bash

At the beginning of every school year, The River Refuge sponsors a Back Pack and Prayer in which children receive book bags filled with school supplies. This evangelistic outreach gives us an opportunity to share school supplies with the children while praying for them and their families.  Each year we donate filled back packs to over 500 kids.  We partner with a number of community partners in order for this event to be a success. As with all other projects we need volunteers to help with all aspects of the event from setting up to serving where needed during the event.

Redemption Boxes

Every year The River Refuge puts together Thanksgiving boxes to give to families in need.  We go out to neighborhoods of low income community families, and deliver the boxes.  Each box is prayed over before sharing with the family.  We believe first in feeding their spiritual body, and then the physical body.  We have been consistent in the community as a connect point for showing love and care.  We seek to engage those that are in the most need in our community through this evangelistic outreach.   We are grateful for the food donated by those in the community.

Christmas in the City

The River Refuge hosts the Christmas in the City yearly!  We share the Real Meaning of Christmas, a meal and presents to hundreds of children in our community. During this event, we minister to the children and families of The Malachi Project and others by singing Happy Birthday to Jesus, providing crafts, serving lunch, and sharing the story of the Birth of Christ. We pray and bless each child with toys and the parents with a small item. It is the prefect opportunity to share about Jesus' birth and talk about the hope behind whey we celebrate this occasion.
